Starting this week, Tennessee Department of Health officials have announced they will no longer provide daily COVID-19 data releases. They said they will begin releasing weekly updates and they will be issued each Wednesday. The data will include the previous Sunday through Saturday.
Tennessee Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey said the number of reported COVID cases are becoming less accurate due to the increase in at-home testing. She said the new policy will allow the department to incorporate COVID-19 monitoring with the department’s pre-pandemic priorities, such as addressing drug overdose deaths.
