The Battle of Paris

The men of Isham G. Harris Camp 109 of Paris, Tennessee are pleased to announce our event, The Battle of Paris Commemoration to be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the Courthouse Square in Paris from 10 AM to 4PM. This will be a Living History educational event that is geared toward the whole family and will give the viewer a better understanding of 19th century life in Tennessee as it was before, during, and after the Civil War.

To date, the event has received the support of the Henry County Historical Society as well as the Henry County Bi-Centennial Commission.

Educational “stations” will be manned by costumed experts representing many aspects of Civil War era life from all over West Tennessee and Kentucky.  The Orphan Brigade Cannon Crew from Paducah, KY will demonstrate their cannon and caisson working display.  A color guard from Camp Heiman in Murray, KY will demonstrate marching cadence and fire a salute.  In all, over a dozen experts will display and demonstrate.

Everybody is welcome to join us and the demonstrators are eager to share their history with the public.  Contact James H. Swor for more information at (731) 389-6599.
