Hummingbird Month at the Woodlands Nature Station

The Friends of Land Between the Lakes invites the public to discover the wonders of hummingbirds throughout the month of August with special viewing opportunities, programs, events, and dinners at the Woodlands Nature Station.

August brings over 250 ruby-throated hummingbirds a day to the Woodlands Nature Station, and visitors can come by any day during the month to watch these busy birds have a feeding frenzy in the Nature Station’s backyard gardens. Hummingbird lovers can also admire artwork by local artists and photographers, check out informative hummingbird displays and programming, participate in a photo contest, attend the 26th Annual Hummingbird Festival, or dine with the hummingbirds.

Hummingbird Month programming includes:

-Month of August: Nature Station Hummingbird Photo Contest

-Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 am: Hummingbird Hangout

-Wednesdays, 11:30 am: Gorgeous Gorgets Children’s Craft

-Saturday, August 13, 6-8 p.m.: Dinner with the Hummingbirds, speaker Shannon Trimboli*

-Saturday and Sunday, August 6-7, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: The 26th Annual Hummingbird Festival

-Friday, August 19, 6-8 p.m.: Dinner with the Hummingbirds, speaker Cyndi Routledge*

-Saturday, August 27, 6-8 p.m.: Dinner with the Hummingbirds, speaker Dr. David Pitts*

*Hummingbird Dinners at the Woodlands Nature Station include a catered dinner, dining amongst buzzing hummingbird feeders, live acoustic music by musician Brent Webster, and a presentation given by a local wildlife professional. The Nature Station is excited to welcome Shannon Trimboli, Cyndi Routledge, and Dr. David Pitts as this year’s speakers. Seats are $30 per person and space is limited. The Woodlands Nature Station is located within Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area at 3146 Silver Trail Road, Cadiz, Kentucky 42211. Admission is $7 for ages 18 and up; $5 for ages 5 – 17; and free for ages 4 and under. Higher rates may apply to special events.
